Kish River- project idea

Just a thought about better utilizing Marengo's water feature, the Kish. Often times, my son asks to go fishing and there's not a great place to do so near town. It would be nice to add some simple things like a bench, lawn mowing, cutting back some brush, a pvc post for fishing line/hooks, at the Rt 23 &/or Deerpass access points. Down the road, possibly even somewhere to park other than the roadside, a shelter, etc... This could be an attractive draw for inexpensive family fun.

Yes!!! Seems like the Kish is a popular spot so this makes sense.

Excellent ideas, Marcie! I have hopes that the city can add a shelter in the parking area at Woodbine Launch in the future. Your ideas are simpler and more doable right away. Perhaps someone could sponsor a bench? The Paddle the Kish volunteers try to keep up with mowing. So far this year they have done Thorne Rd and Woodbine Launch. Deerpass is next on the list. Do you know a volunteer who would help keep Deerpass on the northeast corner cleared??

Woodbine Launch needs chip movers to fill in the potholes on the trail. Please join us this Sunday July 5 at Woodbine. The tools you will need are on the flyer. See you then!

Are there any fishermen in the area that could install the pvc post for fishing hooks and lines? The need is for one at Hwy 23 on water treatment site, Woodbine Launch at Kish and Deerpass Rd on northeast corner, Note that all of these places are under water at some time during the season, so the pipe needs to be anchored SOLIDLY!! Thank you!

Great ideas, Pat! I will take a look at some videos to determine if it's something my son and I can make. We will likely still need help hanging them or get approval to attach to the existing chain link fence already near the Rt 23 fishing site (guessing is the water treatment plant fence). Does anybody have/know a boy scout that needs a project to help with the bench?
